The Pamed Wildlife Sanctuary is an important wildlife reserve in Chhattisgarh. Badalkhol Wildlife Sanctuary is situated at 160 kms north of Raigarh and one of the most famous wildlife reserves in Chhattisgarh. 44 % of this sanctuary region is filled with dense forests and wildlife sanctuaries. The sanctuary is rich in various wildlife species and is also considered to be a bird watcher's paradise as it is a home for the birds.
Bhoramdeo Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the eleven wild life sanctuaries of Chhattisgarh state. It is located at Kabirdham district. It is named after famous Bhoramdeo temples. Drained by river Sakari which also serves as source of drinking water to wild animals.
This is rich with dense forest and Indravati River. It is situated 48 km from Bijapur. One of the prime attractions at Bhairamgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is the wild buffalo. Hill Hynas. The tigers and leopards are also available in this sanctuary; however, they are less in number. Chinkaras can be easily sighted so are the Indian Gazelle and Chital.
The Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary which is also located in the Surguja District is so called because of the two prominent features of this piece of land the Tamor Hill and the Pingla Nalla (stream). Its terrain is also marked by the Moran River which passes it to finally drain its waters into the Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar in Uttar Pradesh. This is a slightly larger sanctuary than the Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary and covers a ground of 608.55 sq. kms. The forest cover consists of a mix of Sal and other deciduous trees.
The Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary is near Semarsot on the Ambikapur-Daltongunj Road. The Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 430.36 Sq. Kms and is covered with sal, deciduous and other riverine trees.
Barnawapara Sanctuary is located in the northern part of Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh, Barnawapara is Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries in the region. Established in 1976 under Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, the sanctuary is relatively a small one covering an area of only 245 sq kms. The topography of the region comprises flat and hilly terrain with altitudes ranging between 265-400 mts. The Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its lush green vegetation's and unique wildlife.
The Sitanadi sanctuary located in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh, Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most famous and important wildlife sanctuaries in central India. Established in 1974 under Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, the sanctuary covers an area of approximately 556 sq kms, comprising of highly undulating and hilly terrain with altitudes ranging between 327-736 mts. The beautiful sanctuary derives its name from the Sitanadi river that originates in the middle of sanctuary and joins Mahanadi river near Deokhut. Sitanadi Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its lush green flora and rich and unique and diverse fauna Udanti Sanctuary Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary is a small but important wildlife sanctuary in the region. Established in 1983 under Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, the sanctuary covers an area of approximately 232 sq km. the topography of the sanctuary comprises broken mass of land traversed by innumerable hill ranges intercepted by stripes of plains. The beautiful sanctuary derives its name from the Udanti river flowing from the west to east covering major part of the sanctuary. Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for its population of the endangered Wild Buffalos.
